Top Strategies to Find Talent in Emerging Hubs Before Your Competition

“We are in a competitive talent landscape and the companies that are able to mobilize quickly enough are the ones that are going to be successful.” Trayc Keevans, Global Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Director, Morgan McKinley.

Exploring emerging talent pools to attract the best employees was the topic of discussion at the PANGEO Evolve Panel, “Top Strategies to Find Talent in Emerging Hubs Before Your Competition,” moderated by Suzanne McVey, Marketing Director EMEA, Globalization Partners with guest panelists, Trayc Keevans, Global Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Director with Morgan McKinley and Dalia Turner, VP of People at Feedzai

The two highly experienced leaders shared their thoughts, insights, observations, and advice on succeeding in the new global remote workplace where turning to new emerging talent hubs is a growing trend, and one which is critical for many companies wishing to expand internationally. With one out of every two roles unfilled, companies are seeking to look further afield to secure the talent they want and for many, these new emerging talent pools provide more choice and a much more economical solution.

Key steps in building an effective talent acquisition strategy

When deciding upon a talent acquisition strategy, the more work a company does in advance of any moves, the more likely a successful outcome, according to our guests. Once a business has decided where they want to go, next, they must look at just how easily they can do business there in terms of everything from workforce availability and quality to cost, language, and even connectivity. Looking to their own existing team and, in particular, the capability of their talent acquisition professionals is something companies often overlook, but is crucial to the successful integration in a new country.

“When you are hiring for local talent one of the things you want to make sure is that you are ready to go when you actually start releasing the requisition and going to market because talent doesn’t wait and it certainly doesn’t wait in this market.” Trayc Keevans, Global Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Director, Morgan McKinley.

Top tips:

Avoid procrastination and over complication

In this competitive landscape, we must mobilize quickly and keep it simple. This enables a more nimble approach — the more diversified and distributed the expansion plan, the less likely it is to succeed.

Go local

Understand the local landscape, everything from the tax and employment laws to compliance and regulation requirements. Work with local experts in-country.

Talent doesn’t wait

Make sure you are ready to move when you start going to market because talent doesn’t wait, and it certainly doesn’t wait in this market.

Be digitally aware

What is your online presence saying? Are your brand and values aligned and, most importantly, do you live your brand values?

Culture matters

Understanding what your culture is, being able to articulate it, embodying it, and imparting it to new hires upon onboarding is critical to retention.

Partner up

Don’t go it alone. Take the headache out of setting up compliantly in another country by working with an Employer of Record with feet on the ground who can deliver legally compliant, localized contracts in minutes.

“If you are looking for a fast new market entry or even looking to test a few markets initially, don’t go it alone – partner with an EOR and let us really take the headache of setting up compliantly in another country away from you.” Suzanne McVey, Marketing Director EMEA, Globalization Partners
